Crisis Over!!!
Isn’t it always the way…I went away on business for three days and what happens???
My nice little business has a hiccup and no-one is around to deal with it…
After more than two years with no problems, my Web Host provider decides to give me a surprise for when I return.
Only two to three hours after leaving on my trip his server goes down and so does several of my key sites!!! and they lay dormant without any attention for more than three days until I return.
I arrive home…panic sets in, my Web Host located half a world away in a different time zone…no response to my emails, answerphone on but no response, by now I am very distressed and start thinking the worse.
So I take a breather and a few drinks and decide to contact my friend Steve MacLellan in Canada for advice and assistance…after all he was closer to the action in terms of time and maybe he could contact the Web Host for me.
Without hesitation Steve got to work and started talking to people and generally making things happen…within hours he got back to me with some useful data….an all important phone number!!!
I make the phone call and within a short period all is resolved and up and running.
Before you ask…Yes I have a new host but I was up and running in double quick time.
So as I mentioned in my intro the Crisis is over but this little drama has raised a number of key things we all should remember…
- Always back up your data.
- If you are using service providers from another region or country contact may be difficult in times of emergency.
- Things can and generally do go wrong when you are least able to attend to them.
- And importantly don’t underestimate the power of friendships made through marketing circles on the internet!!
I refer here to Steve MacLellan who dropped everything he was doing to help a fellow marketer…so in this forum I thank him for his efforts and suggest that you take a moment to visit his website check out his services.
Tell Steve I sent you, find him here Web Development he does some great Website work and runs a Discussion forum as well.
